Singapore is truly cosmopolitan, a fascinating mixture of people and culture, some of the main attractions include several parks and gardens, and the popular outlying islands.
Port Douglas, affectionately known as “Port”, is a sophisticated, but laid back seaside village just 67 kilometres north of Cairns International Airport along the Captain Cook Highway. Shuttle bus, tour bus, taxi and limousine services depart Cairns domestic and international airports, as well as the CBD, for the scenic one hour coastal drive to Port Douglas several times daily.
The closest town to the Great Barrier Reef with no traffic lights or parking meters in sight, Port Douglas is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life whilst still enjoying cosmopolitan convenience and contemporary style in a tropical climate.
Travel north to the Daintree River for a morning tea stop at the Daintree Discovery Centre followed by a guided boardwalk through the rainforest. Continue to Cape Tribulation Beach where time is allowed for a beach walk or relax in a tranquil setting. Enjoy a delicious lunch in a rainforest setting. A stop is then made at the Alexandra Lookout for panoramic views out to sea and the mouth of the Daintree river, followed by a cruise to observe the fauna and flora of this region. Complete your day with a stop at Mossman Gorge before returning to Port Douglas. (L)
Laze in the lush riverside gardens of South Bank, then browse the markets and swim in its lagoon. Glide down the river on a majestic paddlesteamer or take a high-speed ferry to vibrant inner-city villages like Bulimba and New Farm. In the boating hub of nearby Moreton Bay and Islands, you can swim, sea kayak, snorkel coral reefs, toboggan down the world’s tallest sand dune, hire a sail boat or tussle with a marlin.
Take a day tour and visit Mount Tamborine with its spectacular panoramic views of the Gold Coast and glistening waters of the blue Pacific Ocean. From here you head toward the 'Green Mountains' of O'Reilly's. Hear the history of this area and the epic adventures of early settlers. Learn of the heroic rescue by Bernard O'Reilly of two survivors from the Stinson plane crash. Walk through the tree tops 16 metres above the forest floor. View the ancient Antarctic Beach trees together with a multitude of flora and fauna. Visit Canungra Valley Vineyards (owned by the O'Reilly family) and sample some local fruits of the vine. Travel through Canungra, the old sawmilling town, now home of the Australian Army's Jungle Warfare Training Centre.
Spend 5 nights in Sydney and soak up the city’s gorgeous harbour, seductive outdoor lifestyle and great natural beauty. Lose yourself in the cobblestone cul-de-sacs of The Rocks or in the markets, boutiques, cafes and pubs of Paddington.
Why not take a city tour and harbour cruise? See Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay, Hyde Park, and cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Stop at Milsons Point for spectacular views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the famous city skyline. Visit the beautiful beach that has contributed to Manly's reputation as a popular waterfront suburb and relaxed weekend haunt. Return to Sydney via the exclusive and trendy suburbs of Neutral Bay and Mosman. Then join your Lunch Cruise on the stunning harbour.
Encircled by four mountain ranges, the city of Los Angeles is oddly isolated, prompting early chroniclers to describe it as ‘an island on the land’. To appreciate the city it should be thought of as five distinct regions: Downtown, Hollywood, The Valleys, Westside and The Beaches.
